The Institute of Meteorology and Climatology has very good equipment and infrastructure. Particular importance is attached to the IT infrastructure and the optical radiation laboratory. The equipment is further characterized by a large number of measuring instruments and systems, an own measuring field in Hannover-Herrenhausen, which is located in the immediate vicinity of the institute, as well as another measuring field in Ruthe outside of Hannover. A measurement platform has been installed on the roof of the institute, which is mainly used for radiation measurements. The equipment is completed by two laboratories and a precision mechanics and electronics workshop. For training in synoptic meteorology (weather forecasting), a weather room is available at the institute.
